respiratory disease, childhood cancer and sudden infant death syndrome

An Ipsos Reid poll showed that 86% of non-smokers and 66% of smokers
support provincial legislation banning smoking in cars with children

smoke-free

Talk about it with your family
- Sit down and talk about the risks of
smoking and why you want to make your vehicle smoke-free

Make a plan!
- Place a smoke-free vehicle decal in your car to let others know that you
have a smoke-free vehicle

- Remove the ashtrays from inside of your vehicle or fill them with
something else (i.e. sugar-free candy)
- If you are not ready to quit smoking, plan when you are going to have your
cigarettes to avoid smoking in the car
- Plan to make stops on long trips so that you can smoke outside of your car
- Plan on how to deal with people who will ask you to smoke in your car

outside
